Señorío de P.Peciña Gran Reserva is a red wine from the Rioja region produced by Bodegas Hermanos Peciña.
This wine is a blend of Tempranillo (95%), Graciano (3%) and Grenache (2%) grapes, whose grapes have been taken from the wineries oldest vineyards, which have a low yield but are of exceptional quality.
Only the oldest vines (60-70 yo) make the estate's top wine, their Gran Reserva. After a hand-harvest, the grapes are destemmed and fermented naturally in tanks. Aged for 4 years in oak followed by another 3 years in bottle before release.
As for the winemaking process, the wine is fermented for 12 days at a controled temperature of 26-27 °C. After this, the wine is aged for 48 months in American oak barrels which are between 5-6 years old. During this period, racking is carried out 8 times through decanting and gravity.
The 2014 Gran Reserva Senorio de P.Pecina is aged for 48 months in American oak barrels, the balsamic nose also features herbal and black fruit notes with hints of dried flowers and a vanilla underone. Dry and enveloping on the palate, the juicy, hightened acidity makes this a refreshing red. A faintly volatile finish adds character.
