Carol Shelton Description

Carol Shelton "Wild Thing" Mendocino Old Vine Zinfandel is the perfect choice for those who love big, jammy Zinfandels. Sourced from 65-year-old vines, this wine is wild yeast fermented and aged for 8 months in 50% new American oak and 50% older French oak barrels. It offers a terroir-driven complexity with aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, raspberry, cigar box, and vanilla-oak baking spices. The palate is creamy and round, with a long, lush, jammy fruit finish that embodies the bold character of this exceptional Zinfandel.

Wine Enthusiast: 90 Points

Very ripe and luscious, this full-bodied Zin oozes rich berryjam flavors on a smooth mouthfilling texture that has a touch of good tannin for grip.

Wine Spectator: 90 Points

Right out of the briar patch, this Zin is appealingly rustic, with zesty cherry, cranberry, roasted sage and cracked pepper flavors. Drink now through 2031.
