Discover the epitome of Bordeaux luxury in Chateau Le Pin Pomerol. Though unclassified and younger than its contemporaries, this vineyard commands global respect—and price tags to match. With a legacy of transformation under the Thienpont family, each bottle is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship. Nestled near Catusseau village, the 2.7-hectare estate is renowned for its Merlot-dominant blends, brought to life in small stainless steel tanks and aged in 100% new French oak barrels. With only 400-600 cases produced annually, Chateau Le Pin Pomerol is an investment piece for collectors and an exquisite experience for wine connoisseurs.
Chateau Le Pin Pomerol's Merlot offers a vivid tapestry of flavors: dark fruit, licorice, and a whisper of earthy minerality. The texture is sumptuous, the result of accidental malolactic fermentation—a happy mishap turned tradition. Depth and elegance converge, underscored by the fine-grained tannins from its oak aging. The nose is seductive, replete with hints of truffles and floral undertones.
This gem of a wine is best appreciated when served alongside classic French cuisine. Think coq au vin, filet mignon, or a rich truffle risotto. Its structure and complexity make it a versatile companion to both red meats and creamy sauces. Decant for 2-3 hours for younger vintages to let its grandeur unfurl.
The wine world waits for few, and fewer still command the reverence of Chateau Le Pin Pomerol. Don't miss your chance to experience Bordeaux's best-kept secret
Soars from the glass with aromas of raspberry preserve, plums, wild berries, rose petals and licorice, framed by a deftly judged patina of creamy new oak. Full-bodied, supple and velvety, it's broad and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit that's framed by lively acids and powdery tannins, concluding with a long, aromatic finish.
The 2019 Le Pin is a rich, expansive wine that soars from the glass with aromas of raspberry preserve, plums, wild berries, rose petals and licorice, framed by a deftly judged patina of creamy new oak. Full-bodied, supple and velvety, it's broad and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit that's framed by lively acids and powdery tannins, concluding with a long, aromatic finish. Rich in gravel on the surface, Le Pin's vines are rooted in clay, which no doubt helps to explain how this wine can perform so well in warm, dry vintages. As is the norm these days, the 2019 was matured in 70% new oak. Best After 2025.
A classic Le Pin in its exuberant, kinky, sexy, almost over-ripe style, the 2019 Château Le Pin offers a monster nose of black cherry liqueur, red plums, tobacco leaf, mocha, orange peel, and violets. Truly exotic and one of a kind, it hits the palate with a powerful, full-bodied, opulent yet seamless mouthfeel that carries ample tannic grip, a deep, layered mid-palate, and a great finish. It has some elevated volatile acidity and won't be for everyone, but this exotic, dry port-like Merlot needs a good 5-7 years of bottle age and will drink well for 20-25 years. Best after 2027.
