This classic 2020 brings lots of ripe, sexy fruit and texture yet stays balanced and seamless, with a real sense of elegance.

Good focus, a little light through the mid palate with some raspberry leaf aromatics but has an easy charm to it, and has the supple texture and fruit focus that is easy to enjoy. Good-value Pomerol.

Deep purple-black colored, the 2020 Montviel needs a little swirling to unlock scents of stewed plums and baked blackberries, plus hints of garrigue, tilled soil and tobacco leaf with a hint of crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers pure, juicy black and blue fruits, supported by soft, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing with a red berry lift.

Delivers warmed plum sauce and melted black licorice notes that are a touch languid in feel, though a swath of tobacco on the finish adds some energy. One to consume forthwith. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2025.
