There is enough reduction to push the ripe aromas of green fruit, citrus confit, spice and iodine hints to the background. There is even more size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract while simultaneously delivering strikingly good persistence. This isn't as refined, though it almost never is, and a wine that will age as long as anyone would reasonably want to keep it. Stated otherwise, this is pretty much textbook Valmur.
The 2022 Chablis Grand Cru Valmur is brilliant, mingling aromas of citrus oil, fresh mint and white flowers with notions of iodine and wet stones in a complex bouquet, followed by a full-bodied, deep and layered palate that's cool and racy, defying the vintage, and concluding with a long, saline finish.
Crisp, linear and focused, this doesn’t have the out-and-out power of the producer's Les Clos, but makes up for it with finesse. A thoroughbred needing several years. Lovely white peach flavour. From a large plot on the left side of Valmur. This site gets the morning sun and direct heat in the main part of the day but remains shaded from mid-afternoon onwards.
