Located at the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, Marlborough is the epicenter of the country's wine production. The region has a cool climate with long sunny days in the summer and very cool nights, where stony vineyards absorb the day's heat and help to guard against frost during the cool spring and autumn months. Marlborough is heavily planted to Sauvignon Blanc, but Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are also planted throughout.
